Community Garden Spring Resource Fair
When: Saturday, April 2nd, 9am to 4pm
Where: Sabathani Community Center 310 East 38th St Mpls
What: The annual hoe-down is back! An excellent chance to meet other gardeners from around the metro area, glean what resources and opportunities are available to community gardens, and cultivate some new horticultural and organizational skills. This is also a great chance to learn about and connect with your Local Food Resource Hub.
Sustainable Communities Conference
When: Saturday, April 9th, 8:30am to 4:30pm
Where: Central Lutheran Church, 333 12th St. S Mpls,
What: 500+ citizen leaders and volunteers from neighborhoods, congregations, schools, businesses and city environmental commissions will get practical resources for their hands-on projects and will learn from other citizen leaders who have partnered with their city to bring about sustainable local policies. Brooklyn Center Earthfest 2011, Class

What: Earth Friendly Minnesota Landscapes
The mission for EarthFest is this: to gather regional and community organizations and individuals to educate, inspire and involve our students, their parents and the community at large about sustainable practices, and to celebrate the Earth. Russ Henry will present a class on Earth friendly landscaping, free gardening consultations available throughout the event.

What: Each year on Mother’s Day weekend in May, Friends School puts on the biggest fundraising plant sale in Minnesota, perhaps even in the Midwest! Soil Health Class At Valley Natural Foods
When: Tuesday, May 10th,6:30-8:00 p.m.
What: Russ Henry instructs the only class you’ll need to learn how to have healthy, rich soil in your own yard. Learn how your mulching and composting practices can increase your gardens productivity and decrease your water bill. Compost is the basic source of soil fertility here on Earth. Learn how easy home composting and worm composting can be; we’ll even be giving away free red worms to anyone who wants to start their own bin! Come learn about wood mulch, summer mulch, and winter mulch. If it can cover the ground, we’ll cover it!
