Gardening is hard work, it’s okay to ask for help. Each spring at my house we hold a big gardening party where dozens of grown ups and kids get the chance to get their hands dirty and do a little rewarding work. I’m not the only one of my friends who thinks this is a great idea, so far this spring alone I’ve attended 4 garden installation parties. The real trick to pulling off a successful gardening party is to withhold beer and pizza till the work is done. Some water and snacks may be necessary through the work day, but if you really want to see some hard work done fast, keep asking folks what their favorite brand of beer and favorite pizza toppings are through the work day. Don’t push it though, facing a hungry crowd with shovels can be perilous.
Make sure you invite plenty of friends to your gardening party. It’s way cheaper to buy food and beer for a crowd of friends then it is to hire a landscaping company, and you don’t want anyone to have to work too hard at a party right? Oh, remember to show up at your friends gardening parties, B.Y.O.C. (bring your own compost)!
